Hospitality & Tourism Management
Where Future Industry Leaders Begin
At the Regional and State Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) Competitions, students don’t just learn about hospitality—they live it.
From high-pressure problem solving to client-ready presentations, students step into real industry roles and rise to the challenge. These experiences build confidence, sharpen leadership skills, and prepare students to compete—and succeed—in one of the world’s fastest-growing industries.
Signature Competitive Events
Event Management: Hospitality Project / Banquet Event Order (BEO)
Students take the lead as professional event managers. Given a client profile, theme, budget, and specific requests, teams design a complete event experience from concept to execution.
They develop menus, design room layouts, select décor, plan A/V, and manage financial details—proving they can deliver creativity and profitability. The final step? Pitching their event proposal to industry judges, just like professionals competing for a major contract.
This is real-world business strategy in action.
Quiz Bowl: Fast. Focused. Competitive.
In this high-energy, Jeopardy-style showdown, students demonstrate their mastery of hospitality concepts, industry terminology, and real-world scenarios.
Quick thinking, teamwork, and subject knowledge collide in a competition that is as exciting as it is rigorous.
Customer Service & Food & Beverage Case Studies
Hospitality is built on service excellence—and this event puts students to the test.
Presented with authentic industry challenges, teams must think critically, collaborate strategically, and deliver innovative, customer-centered solutions under pressure. Students present their recommendations to industry leaders, showcasing professionalism, adaptability, and executive-level communication skills.
Night Audit: The Business of Hospitality
Behind every successful hotel is strong financial leadership.
In the Night Audit competition, students step into the role of a hotel Night Auditor, analyzing daily financial performance and calculating key metrics such as:
-
Occupancy Percentage (Occ)
-
Average Daily Rate (ADR)
-
Revenue per Available Room (RevPAR)
This event highlights analytical thinking, mathematical precision, and business intelligence—demonstrating that hospitality is both creative and strategic.
