Virtual Courses for Home Education Students

Quick Start for Parents

If your student will be participating in Home Education and taking virtual courses with SCVS, follow these three steps:

  1. Withdraw from your current school and notify them you are transitioning to Home Education.
    (SCPS Withdrawal Code: W24)
  2. Access the Notice of Intent, complete, and submit to the SCPS Home Education Office:
    📧 Email Home Ed @homeschool@scps.k12.fl.us
  3. Send a copy of the Notice of Intent to SCVS if your student will take virtual courses:
    📧 Email SCVS @seminolevirtual@scps.k12.fl.us

Once the Notice of Intent is processed, you may begin requesting courses.

Home Education Overview

Home Education allows families to create a personalized learning plan by selecting curriculum and instructional resources that best meet their student’s needs.

Students registered as Home Education students are not enrolled in a public school program and therefore do not receive a diploma from:

  • Seminole County Virtual School
  • Florida Virtual School
  • Seminole County Public Schools

For information about Home Education requirements, visit the parent resources from the Florida Department of Education.

For information specific to Seminole County Public Schools visit the SCPS Home Education website.
